Robinson's General Store

Voted "Canada's Best Country Store" a trip to Dorset isn't complete until you visit Robinson's General Store. With more than 14,000 square feet of retail space, shoppers can find gifts, souvenirs, housewares, clothing and footwear (moccasins are a specialty). Robinson's also includes a Foodland supermarket, Home Hardware and "The Red Onion" ladies boutique. There is plenty of parking in the area and several docks available for shoppers arriving on Lake of Bays. The original building is now part of the Drygoods section which boasts the original tin ceiling. The old-fashioned atmosphere continues throughout the store (you will still see a birchbark canoe and polar bear skin hanging on the ceiling) along with modern conveniences such as scanning cash registers at the front end.
